My Family First .org is a registered Non-Profit Company dedicated to strengthening the fabric of communities across South Africa. We believe in the power of connection and collective action to uplift and transform lives.

The People's Pot: How It Works
"The People's Pot" is a unique, nationwide celebration designed to bring South Africans together in their own neighbourhoods. We empower you to host or join a cookout that reflects your community's spirit!
We believe true connection happens at the grassroots. Local Volunteer Coordinators (VCs) and their committees lead the planning and execution of events in their communities, often at trusted hubs like local schools.
Entry to "The People's Pot" events is free for everyone! We remove barriers so all families, regardless of financial status, can participate in the joy of communal gathering.
This is where the magic happens! Each participating family takes responsibility for what they want to cook and share. Bring your own braai pack, potjie ingredients, drinks, picnic blankets, and chairs – making it affordable and truly personal.
The "three-foot pot" (known across South Africa as potjie, ibhodwe, imbiza, or simply "three-foot") is our national emblem. It symbolizes the warmth, sharing, and rich culinary heritage that unites us all.

"The People's Pot" is fundamentally a national movement celebrating South Africa's diverse culinary heritage, families, and fostering community cohesion. Each year, in addition to our core mission, we align our efforts with a vital social cause. For 2025, our specific focus is on preserving the 99.9% of our youth from drugs.
We believe that strong communities, positive engagement, and a clear sense of purpose are the most powerful shields against the pressures that lead to drug abuse. By creating safe, engaging, and drug-free community spaces, and integrating awareness messaging, we aim to:
Offer vibrant environments where youth can connect and thrive, away from negative influences.
Give learners a "higher reason for living" through our "Vision Plus Purpose: The Roadmap to Your Destiny" bootcamp, distracting them from "bugs" like drugs.
Support family stability, a key preventative factor against vulnerability to drugs.
The "Giving Pot" Initiative: At every "People's Pot" event, we encourage each participant to bring a canned food item. These donations will directly support My Family First .org's annual Christmas festival, providing essential relief to poor families. Every can you bring helps nourish a future and builds a stronger, safer community for our youth.
